Mark Twain said, "Soap and education may not be as sudden as a massacre, but are probably more deadly in the long run."
Throughout my life, I've tried to make myself clean and smart, but some folks have said I'm just dangerous. We'll see.

RebSarge: Good to see you've found an outlet for your rants. You'll need thick skin though. Few people will suffer common sense and fewer yet will praise it.

ReplyDeleteThanks. Ironically, in about the past 19 years, I've put a lot of energy into breaking down that hard shell around myself. Now I have to regrow it. Maybe it never was all that torn down, anyway. I've lost some 20-year friendships over politics this year, and wouldn't be surprised if I don't lose more. I take strength and resolve from my Confederate ancestors, who lost friendships on the battlefield. That would be a hell of a lot worse!
ReplyDeleteRebSarge: Here's a link to one of the best articles about how inflation can destroy a nation by grinding down it's citizenry. It doesn't happen quickly but that is what the perpetrators intend. http://mises.org/story/3663 "Inflation and the Fall of the Roman Empire"
